On an annual basis since 2007, our Center has provided quality, fun and educational theatre for children, seniors and the community through our Intergenerational Theater Program. Our goal is to transcend cultural barriers between the young and young at heart by actively engaging them in the arts. Participating in theatre helps to develop confidence, skills and self-esteem, as well as meaningful relationships.
The children and seniors participate in the 6-8 week program for about two hours in the evening, Mondays through Thursdays. Our group then puts on five shows for the public, family and friends to enjoy!
Denise Gustafson, Executive Director of the Intergenerational Learning Center, says, “We’ve seen that both generations really benefit from creating new relationships with each other. Some children and residents have participated multiple times over the years. It’s been such a benefit to so many in the community over the years.”
